How to pick a travel crate your airline won't reject
The four measurements that matter
Airlines measure four things: A) nose to base of tail, B) ground to elbow, C) widest point across the shoulders, D) ground to top of head (or ear tip for upright-eared breeds). The crate must allow your pet to stand fully upright, turn around, and lie down naturally — no exceptions.
The crate sizing formula
Length = A + ½B. Width = 2C. Height = D + 3cm (or D + 7cm for breeds with naturally upright ears). Round up to the next standard IATA size (100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 700). If your pet is between sizes, always go up.
What gets you rejected
Plastic top and bottom screwed together with metal bolts (not plastic clips). Ventilation on all four sides for international flights. A water bowl that attaches inside the door. 'Live Animal' stickers, your contact details, and feeding instructions taped on top. We supply all of this as standard.
